CHINA FALTERS AND TOURISM SHUDDERS ACROSS THE GLOBE

Here is this month’s report on key tourism outbound markets around the world…

China and the US continue to be global leaders when it comes to outbound travel, but there are clouds on the Chinese travel horizon. Concerns abound about the impact that the devalued yuan will have on Chinese travel, and the trickle-down effect of a decline in Chinese travel-related spending on global tourism in general and on luxury goods in particular. US outbound travel on the other hand is very encouraging – the US economy continues to strengthen, and with that, strength in outbound international travel, particularly to other countries in North America (Canada and Mexico) and the Caribbean. US summer travel figures are not in yet, but it’s expected that they will reflect an even more robust level of growth for US travel to Europe and the Middle East. Continue reading …
